Pennsylvania taxpayers spend over $21 billion annually on K-12 public schools. These costs continue to drive up property taxes for homeowners, yet some lawmakers are blaming cyber schools—which account for only 0.5% of total K-12 spending. This week, the topic is how school choice saves children from under-performing schools and saves taxpayers’ money.
Matt speaks with Dr. Robert Maranto of Villanova University about the “Edifice Complex” and with Greg White, an education policy specialist, about the benefits of cyber school education. Dr. Jay P. Greene of the University of Arkansas discusses his recent research on Florida’s special education voucher program and it benefits to the public schools. Nate Benefield also discusses the launch of a new website, www.SchoolChoiceSaves.org
