Wal-Mart: For Good or Evil? [08.11.07]

Wal-MartAmericans seem to either love or hate Wal-Mart. While the company’s success in delivering low-cost goods to consumers is undeniable, it definitely has its detractors.

Matt chatted with Dr. Russ Sobel of WVU, to explore the impact of Wal-Mart on small businesses, the poor, and the “social capital” in communities. He also talked with Dr. Richard Vedder to explore why some politicians and labor unions are doing all they can to harm the company. Matt looked at Wal-Mart’s impact on the poor and “social capital” with Dr. Art Carden of Rhodes College and Steve Malanga of the Manhattan Institute, while also taking on Wal-Mart’s anti-market positions with regard to health care and minimum wage laws.
